Current Volunteer Opportunities
LACC Talent Team Volunteer
Lanesboro Area Chamber of Commerce Committees, called internally as "Talent Teams" serve as operating systems of the Chamber, representing member opinion in decision making. We are currently seeking volunteers for the various opportunities the Chamber has to offer in 2021.
Committee Members turn ideas into action. Working with the Chamber's professional staff, volunteers help facilitate the programs and services that enhance the success of LACC members and the greater business community. They get the facts, face the facts and take the action to get the job done.
Currently appointments for a committee member are for one year, without term limit.
Candidates should have a passion for involvement and an understanding of the Chamber’s mission and inherent value. This also includes but is not limited to the programs and events the Chamber offers.
Finance Committee: Oversees the treasury of the organization, as well as its financial instruments, budgets, controls and reports. It is chaired by the elected treasurer. It submits a proposed annual budget for BOD approval and may undertake fundraising projects.
Membership Committee: Targets audiences for membership, successfully enrolling new members while retaining current members. It regularly reviews the organization’s membership strategies and coordinates the tangible and intangible benefits that members receive by joining and supporting the organization.
Marketing Committee: Handles communications to the targeted audiences of the organization: (1) members, (2) prospects, (3) allied organizations, (4) government, and (5) general public. The committee is responsible for the annual marketing plan, reviewing and updating publications and acquiring meaningful articles for the newsletter, and maintains magazines and other communication tools that reach members and prospects.
Community Committee: Initiates ways to be a fun city and good neighbor, such as networking, socializing and beautification of the town. The committee implements programs to recognize members and volunteers who contribute beyond the usual efforts.

2021 Board of Directors (3 SeatS; 3 yrs: 2021-23)
Lanesboro Area Chamber of Commerce is looking for potential candidates for our open board of directors positions. Each year, there are three seats open for the nomination and election.
We are currently seeking board seat nominations for three-year terms covering 2021 – 2023 .
The Board of Directors for the Lanesboro Area Chamber of Commerce is composed of Members from diverse professional backgrounds who volunteer to serve a three-year term. The intention is to create a well-rounded group of dedicated professionals, representing the Lanesboro Area.
The position of a Member of the Chamber Board of Directors is not an honorary one. Board members must possess the time commitment and company resources to guide and grow the Chamber through Board support, long-range planning (5+ years), community relations and fundraising. These multiple skill sets ensure the Chamber’s long-term health and success, setting a tone for organizational effectiveness, innovation and vision.
It is our hope that you will find your involvement as a Board Director productive and rewarding knowing your participation will contribute to keep the Lanesboro Area Chamber of Commerce at the forefront of our business community.
The role as a Director is significant, demanding, and visible. The Chamber has a commitment to its members; it is an important organization in the community, and influential throughout the region and State.
The members of the Board of Directors are the elected representatives of the Chamber's general membership and have ultimate responsibility for all Chamber operations. In this capacity, Board members formulate and review various policies, proposed actions, programs, and projects which serve the best interests of the Chamber and its members and study and review the budgetary and financial needs of the Chamber.
The Board Members are aware of the importance of public opinion and promote the value of Chamber membership and the benefits derived. The ability to delegate authority while retaining responsibility is of high importance. Board Members understand they individually and collectively represent ALL Members of the Chamber and not just the business of which he or she is affiliated.
Board Members are required to have experience in planning (short and long term), organizational development, operations (small, medium or large business) and community experience. Individual Board Members serve on at least one committee of the Chamber and attend the regular meetings of the Board during the Chamber’s fiscal year. Board Members take an active role in recruiting new members to the Chamber and attend as many events and functions of the Chamber as possible.
Eligibility & Application Process:
Any member or an employee of a member in good standing(*) of the LACC can nominate himself/herself by completing the nomination application by the posted deadline.
Applicants interested in serving on the Chamber's Board of Directors need to have an an understanding of the Chamber’s mission and inherent value and read and understand the "Board of Directors Roles & Responsibilities Handbook" prior to completing the nomination form.
Applicants are also asked to submit a photo and a short biography for use in promotion in the event of an election by the chamber membership.
(*) Good Standing for Eligible Applicants means that LACC Members are current on their dues with the Chamber no less than five (5) days prior to Applicants Selection date (Mon, Dec 21, 2020). In light of the 2020 pandemic, the keyword “current” refers to full or partial dues payment.
