LACC Board of Directors

The Board of Directors for the Lanesboro Area Chamber of Commerce is composed of Members from diverse professional backgrounds who volunteer to serve a three-year term. Each year, there are three seats open for the nomination and election. The intention is to create a well-rounded group of dedicated professionals, representing the Lanesboro Area.

The BOD position is not an honorary one: Board members must possess the time commitment to guide and grow the Chamber through Board support, long-range planning (5+ years), community relations and fundraising. These multiple skill sets ensure the Chamber’s long-term health and success, setting a tone for organizational effectiveness, innovation and vision.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

It is our hope that you will find your involvement as a Board Director productive and rewarding knowing your participation will contribute to keeping the Lanesboro Area Chamber of Commerce at the forefront of our business community.

The role as a Director is significant, demanding, and visible. The Chamber has a commitment to its members; it is an important organization in the community, and influential throughout the region and State.

The members of the Board of Directors are the elected representatives of the Chamber's general membership and have ultimate responsibility for all Chamber operations. In this capacity, Board members formulate and review various policies, proposed actions, programs, and projects which serve the best interests of the Chamber and its members and study and review the budgetary and financial needs of the Chamber.

The Board Members are aware of the importance of public opinion and promote the value of Chamber membership and the benefits derived. The ability to delegate authority while retaining responsibility is of high importance. Board Members understand they individually and collectively represent ALL Members of the Chamber and not just the business of which he or she is affiliated.

Board Members are required to have experience in planning (short and long term), organizational development, operations (small, medium or large business) and community experience. Individual Board Members serve on at least one committee of the Chamber and attend the regular meetings of the Board during the Chamber’s fiscal year. Board Members take an active role in recruiting new members to the Chamber and attend as many events and functions of the Chamber as possible.

ELIGIBILITY & APPLICATION PROCESS:

Application Submission Deadline: Tuesday, December 20, 2022 @ midnight

Any member or an employee of a member in good standing(*) of the LACC can nominate him-/her-/themself by completing the application by the posted deadline.

Applicants interested in serving on the Chamber's Board of Directors need to have an an understanding of the Chamber’s mission and inherent value and read and understand the "Board of Directors Roles & Responsibilities Handbook" prior to completing the nomination form.

Applicants are also asked to submit a photo and a short biography for use in promotional materials.

(*) Good Standing for Eligible Applicants means that LACC Members are current on their dues with the Chamber no less than five (5) days prior to Applicants Selection date (Wed, Dec 21, 2022) which is Friday, December 16, 2022.
